I absolutely cannot say enough good things about this place. I’d give ten stars if I could.It takes a community to raise a child. I am so happy to have Cosens martial arts in my community!My boys have not only learned how to defend themselves, but they have learned discipline, confidence, respect, self respect and to see them grow over the last handful of months has been amazing!Coach Spy and coach sanbeck are both wonderful with kids! They are involved in and outside of class. They actually care about “their” kids.I am so happy that we found this program and look forward to the time ahead. I Love this place! My son deals with really bad ADHD, and keeping him engaged can at times be difficult. Coach Spy does an awesome job with being patient and understanding. I enjoy watching my sons class. Not only has my son been learning how to defend himself, but also learning life skills, and keeping him accountable for his actions in life and at school. I’ve witnessed that for Coach Spy, safety is always a #1 goal. Coach Spy is always willing to listen and help in anyway he can for the families that attend his school. I’m so happy I brought my son here! I just hope one day they’ll be able to expand their location in Saginaw – due to their awesome facility, they are definitely growing! My daughter is 5 and loves going to Martial Arts class at Cosens. Coach Spy is excellent with the children. The children are given lessons on subjects like respect and self-discipline during each session and are given individual attention when necessary without making them feel embarrassed or singled out. He really seems to find a way to connect with them in a fun and engaging way. Many of his lessons apply to home life outside of the classroom which help build good values and confidence. This class is not all about throwing punches, but about promoting being a good person living a healthy lifestyle, capable of defending yourself if you have to.

Highly recommended this place if you’re trying to get your kid into some activity. The coaches here make it super friendly and fun while being strict and and serious. I’ve seen such a huge difference in my sons confidence. He was adamant that he did not want to do karate. Until we came for the free trial class one weekend. That’s all it took and he was absolutely hooked. It’s something he looks forward to every week. You won’t regret bringing your kids here. And they even offer adult classes as well.

We were looking for a way to keep our son connected to other kids during the summer after a rough kindergarten year. We have seen him open up so much. He is socially anxious and refuses to give high fives but the amazing coaches here give him double thumbs up as reward for his efforts and good jobs. Coach F and coach Stedman take the time to really know and support not only the kids they coach but the parents as well. Jamar now looks forward to coming to his martial arts class and blackbelt training. Thank you so much for all the help getting him out of his shell and building his confidence. Great coaches. Friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. My son (9) is a new white belt, and he is loving it! 4 month update: my son has committed to youth black belt training, which is a three year program. It is a testament to quality coaching. The coaches use a good mix of challenging drills and just fun activities. There are community events and parent nights every so often, which is a nice addition.

As a parent and as an educator, I think Cosens Martial Arts in Oxford provides an exceptional program for building character. My husband and I enrolled our eight-year-old son in July 2023 for the basic program. From day 1, our son has focused intently during karate class, two days a week; so much so that in less than six weeks, I was astounded to see him teach a new student so many of the martial arts moves effectively and efficiently. A couple of weeks later, we signed him up for the black belt program, because the confidence, self-efficacy, and responsibility we see evident in our son are proof to us of the effectiveness of the program. He has matured and grown so much as an individual. The coaches support our son and the other students, make the martial arts serious while so enjoyable, and create a community of learners and just overall exceptional people. When I told my son I was writing this review, he asked if he could write one, too, so I dictated the following from him: “I think Cosens is a place for people to learn that they can stick up for themselves and you can stick up for other people if they are getting bullied. Coach teaches us to be respectful. I feel like I don’t have to be scared, because now I know how to respect people and stick up for myself and others. Martial arts tells us never to be a bully. I feel like sometimes when people are getting picked on or people are hitting people, you can stick up for them and tell people don’t do that because they will get a consequence. People probably don’t like being mean. It’s a place where kids learn a lot.”

As a business sure yeah it's exactly what you pay for. But if you're looking for a job or a career this is not a place you should look! There is absolutely no communication whatsoever there is no mention of a waitlist even though your placed on one! And it also takes the Boss 2 to 3 days to even get back to you on when you're going to get paid So if you're looking for a job opportunity look longer look! Look very much longer! I don't care that you messed around with my families money. I care that you messed around with my husbands time because his time is valuable!
