I have done Shotokan Karate for many years in multiple states with various good instructors. In 2001-2002, I had the great opportunity and privilege to train at JSKA Michigan. This club offers the highest quality and standard of training and to say that Sensei Hunt is excellent, would be a great understatement. This school is truly a gem in martial arts, where mastery meets quality and respect. The environment is very friendly. Sensei Hunt is sincere and humble, always providing the finest level of detail that only a world class instructor can deliver. His work ethic is exemplary. This is the real deal for serious students of karate, where they can grow exponentially. Over the years, the club has produced top karate practitioners. My whole family would be training with Sensei if I was local and many of the students do just this, which in itself is a true compliment for the school and Sensei Hunt. .My only regret is that I had to move out of the state and could no longer train with Sensei Hunt, until re-joining the club again during the COVID era for Zoom classes. I sincerely cannot say enough good words for Sensei Hunt an his karate school.

Excellent place to train and learn! Sensei Hunt does an incredible job of teaching karate with his proven methods and many years of practice and discipline. The other black belt instructors are top notch as well and are eager to help you learn. As a former karate student of many years (and a big critic of most styles), I highly recommend JSKA. You will receive a rewarding experience that is second to none in the Rochester area.

If you want to learn authentic and traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate, then JSKA Rochester is the way to go! My younger two brothers and I have been training for almost a year now with this school and we have been 100 percent satisfied with the training. Sensei Hunt is a great Sensei(teacher). He is very patient and understands the time that it takes for beginners to learn proper technique and form of Karate. I chose JSKA Rochester because of my Father, who is a 4th Dan black belt, and has been training JSKA for over 30 years under Sensei James Morrone, which was Dan Hunt’s Sensei also. Sensei Hunt will train you to build great discipline and confidence in your self defense skills, mentally and physically. If an unfortunate event occurs where your hands are the only weapon, you will be ready for the fight, thanks to JSKA Rochester and Sensei Hunt.

Sensei Hunt is a great instructor. He shows a great combination of caring and discipline. He is very personable has taken the time to get to know my children and our family. My kids are learning quickly and really enjoy going to karate.

Sensei Hunt has been an instructor for many years. He is a skilled teacher able to help young children gain confidence and skills in the martial arts. I attend his adult classes and am always challenged. The classes are safe and a very good value for those wishing to learn traditional martial arts. After a short time of training, new students can use their knowledge to avoid violence and to deal with the stresses of our society. I highly recommend JSKA Rochester and Sensei Hunt.
