Servant's Heart teaches basic punches and kicks, self defense, and karate forms called katas. We teach Ryukyu Shimbukan Kobudo/weapons training under the watchful eye of Paul Vermiglio Sensei of BKI who resides in the UK. Shimbukan Kobudo includes, but is not limited to: bo, sai, nunchaku, tekko and tonfa. Woven into the system is improvement of oneself and developing balance in ones life. Skills such as self protection, coordination, agility, fitness, listening, following direction, learning to lead, and cooperation are enhanced. Attributes such as respect, self-confidence, self-control, faithfulness, and serving others are developed over time. Servant's Heart Karate believes in having fun and building friendships. We host Friday Night Fun Nights throughout the year. They include things like BBQ'S, parents night out, laser tag, hay rides, and other social events. Having fun as a karate family is important to us.      Servant's Heart Isshinryu Karate & Kobudo School is a nondenominational Christian based karate school. Christian values are part of our program. This being said, Servant's heart Isshinryu Karate School is open to all people. We do not discriminate based on religion, race, or disabilities.

I like the layout, I can watch my kids practice in a comfortable separate room. Also there's great parking and the facility is clean. Sensei Susan is great with handling the class and impressively remembers everyone's name. I really like how she doesn't let my boys get away with goofing off or being lazy. She makes the kids earn their belts and I've been noticing a real improvement in my boys self discipline and confidence at home.

Our daughter has only been taking classes at Servant's Heart for a month or so, but she loves it. We are very happy with the atmosphere at the school, the teachers are top notch, caring, yet disciplined, and they give each child the attention they need to succeed. The facilities are clean and well designed so that parents can watch lessons yet not disturb the class. Each lesson also includes a fun game or challenge at the end, sending everyone home happy. Of all of the options in the area we considered, we are confident we picked the best!

I had always wanted to try Karate and finally went for it, and I don’t believe I could have found a better fit for a dojo. Sensei Susan and Keith not only understand all the ins and outs of the art, but are fantastic teachers as well. They are very patient and encouraging, and from what I’ve seen of the younger classes, are amazing with kids as well. Considering the pricing, (much better deals than surrounding dojo’s, I did my research!) and them even offering weapons training, this is a great option for both young and old to try. I also love the emphasis on being a student means being part of the community and giving back as being apart of their mission statement, it’s nice to see community leaders encourage this kind of sentiment.

Our son is a relatively new student but in the short time he has been attending Servants Heart, we have been impressed with the positive yet professional atmoshere here. We also appreciate the attention given to each student to thoroughly instruct them. Sensei Susan and her husband are great with the kids. It is truly become Haydens happy place!
