We believe that everyone—no matter who they are or where they are from—deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. When you give to the Y, you support critical programs and services for young people, adults and families who need them the most.

Deirdre Bush5 StarA good place for all the gym/workout needs you have. I have been a member at multiple gyms - from Lifetime ($120+/month for one person) to Planet Fitness ($25/month for one person) and gym equipment is gym equipment. Classes, staff and trainers make all the difference for any gym. I appreciate that all classes are included in the price of membership ($50/month for one person), the instructors are knowledgable, the staff is friendly, and the building/parking lot are well maintained.Tuesday 15th July 2025
Leiah Shirley4 StarI joined South Oakland YMCA in October 2023 for swim classes. The adult instructor Rook has a great personality and is so patient. I had previous swim experience but fear had kept me from getting into most pools or bodies of water comfortably. We started with some basics but by week 3 our group was already in the deep end, treading water.
There seems to be plenty of activity and classes available at this location. I haven’t used any other parts of the facility but I did walk around when I enrolled and the locker room/showers are always clean. The women's locker room is in the basement where there is a small sauna, lockers, dressing areas, bathrooms and several showers.
The front desk staff has been friendly but not always knowledgeable (I called to ask about billing cycle/account set up information and was misinformed). In addition to the staff the atmosphere feels very welcoming with many people seeming to know each other through coming there often.
Parking on the side of the building isn’t the greatest, but there is an overflow lot behind.
Based on my experiences the last three months, I am hoping to sign up my family for summer programs, and to start attending regularly.Saturday 23rd December 2023
Michael1 StarUpper management has double standards throwing out accusations that definitely are'nt true.🙏 code of conduct 😇 very respectable here. Sounds like a One-Sided management.Thursday 24th July 2025
Lisa Smith5 StarThis is a phenomenal place to maintain a healthy life 365. The staff, trainers, and the
members that attend are pleasurable, & supportive. The atmosphere is serene.Wednesday 5th March 2025
Olivia Palmer2 StarWell I was bummed that this location didn’t have a steam room, actually none of the associated locations do. I was told several locations did when I signed up at a different location but I get it, misinformation. This YMCA definitely reminds me of the Y I used to attend back in the 90s. I think it has great potential. I was a little disappointed to see so much vandalism in the woman’s sauna. This location definitely could use a major update. The staff is very friendly.Thursday 2nd January 2025
