Sharita Fouche5 StarI absolutely love this Dojo! My son started in 2017 and now my whole family trains here. The Dojo is beautiful and filled with good people. The energy is unmatched. It is a complete honor to be in such close contact with Grand Master Adams, he is such an inspiration. I thought Martial Arts would be too complex for me to even think about learning but the black belts here are amazing at meeting you where you are and getting you to where you need to be. I have seen all ages welcomed here... You are never too old start your journey 🥰Monday 4th July 2022

Ani Berkeley5 StarThis dojo is great but it’s the people here who are truly amazing! So generous with their time and knowledge and they create a unique environment I haven’t found anywhere else. I started over 28 years ago, moved away, then moved back and the instructors don’t look like they’ve even aged! Feeling lucky to have discovered Southfield Martial Arts.Sunday 19th January 2020
La Trice R Herring4 StarGreat place to learn self defense, respect for self and others and honor. Good for the entire family. Excel as fast or slow as you want, however it depends on your dedication. My son was a little too young when I tried him... I'll wait a couple more years and then we're back away it.Sunday 1st March 2020
C McClain Official3 StarOf course, no amount of training will make a Kyu or Dan "invincible" but I digress. While my time at S.M.A.I. (1995-2003, 2006-2007) wasn't as extensive compared to a lot of Hanshi Adams students, there were good and bad points about the dojo in general:
GOOD: Consistent instruction on katas, basics, etc. Great place for children or beginning martial artists to start their martial arts journey. BAD: Limited instruction in actual kata "bunkai," little to no training in grappling (which became crucial after the debut of UFC and BJJ) and no kind of applicable sparring or footwork drills. The "running style" of sparring is emphasized with little to no instruction in offensive and "counter-attacking" tactics.Saturday 6th August 2022
